Believers: Boston Red Sox

Overview:

With this show, we set out to tell the story through the lens of the fans, a deeply human perspective on the fandom of Red Sox through their 2004 ALCS win and how the cultural mythology of the “Curse of the Bambino” came to be. Rather than simply recounting history, we wanted to explore how this narrative was shaped by the people who lived it, endured it and held on to their faith across generations.

Visually, we aimed to build a distinct edginess into the show package. These athletes were often revered like deities, elevated to near-mythic status. We juxtaposed that sense of religiosity with textured graffiti and a raw punk aesthetic; creating a graphic language that hums with intensity. The look balances reverence and rebellion; finding its energy in the space between.

Set Design:

We created a 3d double of Fenway’s iconic stadium and paired it with bespoke curated skies to each of the celebrity interviewees.

Cold Open:

Each episode had it’s own cold open and with Episode 2 we utilized the shape of the baseball as almost a wormhole to set the tone into Fenway.

Archival:

Each archival still was given a light touch of texture and polish to tie in with the rest of the graphics.

Title:

Leaning into the religiosity aspect of the design, our designer Loren McNames crafted a book revealing the “chapter” title per episode.
